My 2005 Avalon has been at the dealership since December 22, 2008 waiting on an oil line repair.
I have been told that this part is back ordered from the manufacturer and there is no estimated time of arrival for this part.
Is there anybody out had this part repaired before. The oil line was leaking oil and the dealership suggested that I stop driving the car.

Yea I have the same problem....The leak is from the Oil Line to the VVTI.....I took to the dealership and they told me the same thing, they didnt know when the parts are coming in. But they wanted to charge me $400 to replace the oil line.....Well I said I was going to buy the parts from toyota but just get fixed somewhere else since my warranty is gone....But if your under 60K it should be no charge under the Drive train warranty(or something like that). Im at 69K so im not covered....Anyways I went to the Toyota parts department in the dealership and the part cost me $55 and It doesnt arrive til Feb. 18, 2009. So my car will be taking a rest for a whole month. But its weird that they dont have this part in the US. I think its a recall item but they just havent maded it official, but if they do recall this part well get refund for fixing the problem...I HOPE!...:)

I just put my 2005 Avalon in the shop last week for the same problem. I was told it would only be about $650.00 to repair, but they have no idea when the parts will come in. There happen to have been 3 other Avalon's at the dealership at the same time with the same problem. I was told it could be as long as one month or even longer before the parts come in from Japan. It seems like this is a big problem with the Avalon's. My serviceman told me to call Toyota costmer service and inform them of the problem. Have any of you had your cars repaired yet are or you still waiting on the parts?

I got my parts in already....the dealer was charging me $400 but instead I did it myself with a helper.........its not hard..........I talked to a technician at the dealer and he said their trying to make it one full pipe instead of the rubber in the middle of two pipes, because thats where the problem is so we might have this problem again.
