Speedometer And Tachometer Needles. Options

I just bought a new corolla 2009 last week. I realize that my car was doing somethings strange when I startup, the speedometer and tachometer needles was go all the way up and come back. Do any one know if that is normal or there is something wrong with it.

Hi Ben, that's the way it should be. It's normal.
It's actually a very nice feature ( optitron ) similar to or available to most luxury car.

the reason behind them is to show that your gauges are working.

It's actually to calibrate the stepper motors that drive the needles.
