i have a question,
i bought my 2002 rav 4 in november 2007. i have already had to replace the clutch and fly wheel
and then in november 2008 the real problems started.
initially, it broke down while driving. it was shuddering and didn't have much power. i had what i think was some valve replaced. i don't know exactly as the mechanic told me but i have forgotten. it worked fine for a few weeks. the battery then went dead.
when i went to buy a battery i was told that the existing battery wasn't powerful enough for a 2.0 litre diesel jeep. obviously i said ok and bought one that they recommended. i got a mechanic to replace it. it started up just fine. i turned it off and came back to it in less than 5 minutes. it started but the engine was giving this loud noise and shaking violently. called the mechanic back and first he was wondering did i put petrol into it. now, while i don't know much about cars, in fact the only interest i have in cars is that they bring me from a to b in as little a time possible and keep me dry while doing it, i know not to mix petrol into a diesel engine. well long story short. it has been up with a diesel specialist since the start of december 2008. i got it back for 3 days in january but it broke down again with the same problem. the emu has been changed by them a couple of times but something is causing it to blow. some injectors were changed by them too but still the same problem. now he is telling me it might need a re-wiring job.
how is this possible? was it badly wired in the first place? would the new battery somehow be causing this as it is too much of a coincidence that this started immediatly after i replaced the battery. everyone i talked too said that it couldn't be the battery but as far as i was concerned this seems obvious.
