In Car Heater, Takes forever to heat up Options

Hello, is there a way to make the heater get hot faster? I drive 15 miles to work, the heater takes at least halft that journey to warm up then when i stop at lights ect, it blows cold..... What can I do to improve this?

Replace your thermostat. It appears that it's stuck Open. Should you have the time, start the van cold and feel your upper radiator hose. If it slowly heats up to "Hot", then your thermostat is stuck open. If it remains cold and all of a sudden a hot feeling of the hose happens, then the thermostat is working. Check your "Clutch Fan as well to see if it's "frozen" or locked in a direct drive position. I doubt it will be the last one since at stop lights you lose all heat.

i had problems with heat before, and found out that the fluid was low.

I had this same problem. It took me a while to figure out why the fluid was always down. You may want to check that small hose off the radiator, going to the reservior. I have had a couple of them with small hairline cracks on the small tube off the radiator, and eventually it breaks off. Hard to see, and you may have to remove the overflow container to see the problem. A little epoxy in that area should fix this. I broke one off, and put a piece of copper in there, along with some Hercules brand epoxy putty (not that this brand is any better than others). Its been in there about 8,000 miles and driven across 6 states non-stop, and the heat hasn't got to it yet. Seems to be holding up well. You can also buy just the top of the tank from a Toyota dealer, if this is your problem.
