im looking at buying an 89 tercel with about 95 000 miles (155 000kms) on it.

apparently its been sitting for over a year with what im told is somewhat regular start up and let idles.

it's emitting a fair bit of white smoke for the 5 mins i had it runing. it's some younger kids car and he clearly doesnt know anything, and i know slightly more but still utimatley nothing.

what should i be checking, and how long should it run for before the white smoke starts.

obviously it can be serious like a blown head gasket right?

oh, and the smoke does smell rich like fuel, so maybe its the old gasoline in the engine?
