Does anyone have problem with the accelerator of the Yaris at 1st gear? Every once a while, it seems to take almost a second for the car to respond. I have started to listen to the engine with my foot on the accelerator before I pop my clutch and I have to remember to use the hand brake on a hill. It I don’t pay attention, I kill the engine. Thanks.

Definitely NOT normal behavior. If your dealer told you htis, go to another dealer! Throttle response should be very quick on the Yaris, and a delay indicates something is amiss. Might be excessive clutch wear if it only happens in 1st.
