2003 1.8 Engine Removal, engine removal question Options

does anyone know if the engine can be removed from a 2003 corolla 1.8 VVT without removing the manual transmission? is there enough room to shift the engine toward the passenger side of the car to clear the trans and go up and out?

after completing the task- the answer to this question is no, you can't remove the engine w/out first removing the trans. you can remove trans first, then the engine- or the way i did it, remove it all together (after removing the axles). you can watch my engine change here... 2003 Corolla engine change
