I just purchased a 1994 toyota corolla from a private seller today. I test drove the car before I bought and also took it to a mechanic and had it inspected for problems (waste of time+money). There were no shown problems with a gas leak on the car before I bought it. However, after I filled it up with gas and brought it home, it started leaking gas like crazy. I lost 3/4 of the tank over the course of about 5-6 hours, but then it stopped leaking when it got down to about 1/8 tank. I noticed when I picked up the car it only had about that amount in the tank, but there was no gas on the ground. I feel like this seller knew of the problem but didn't bring it to my attention, but instead deceived me by only filling the gas tank slightly. I was just wondering if this type of leak would be more likely to be a fuel line leak or a fuel pump leak? The gas is leaking in the front of the car, but I couldn't tell if it was dripping down from the engine area or if it was dripping directly from the fuel line. If my fuel pump was to go bad would the car leak like that while parked? Thanks in advance and I didn't mean to write a such a long story.
