Hey guys, I'm just looking to buy an audio system for my truck.
I bought this pick up in Sept. '08, and the pioneer tape player that came with it when I purchased it is shorting out really badly.
I'm hoping that a new audio system with fix it, so that I can listen to music consistantly.

Right now, my truck is in the shop, so I don't know what size speakers fit it or anything.
If you have any suggestions on decent audio systems priced under $200, it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello, I replaced my broken factory stereo in my 2000 Tundra last year for a total cost of just under 200 bucks. My truck calls 6.5 round speakers in the doors. There are several cd head units of 25 watts or so per channel out there for around 100 dollars. I would stick with a known brand such as JVC, Kenwood, Pioneer etc. As for speakers again stick with known brands and try to find a pair that can produce as much bass as possible for the size your truck takes. I have Alpines in mine they go down to 30Hz. If you go to Crutchfields web site and put your trucks info in the fields it will tell you what size and location for your speakers. Shop around find the best price for a good head unit and speakers, just take your time and don't get drawn into a unit with allot of features for a little money. I would look for coax speakers, meaning they are two way tweeters built into the mid bass cone. Good luck and enjoy your new sound system.

I had a 94 2wd and now a 94 4x4. 4" up front doesn't do much good to replace them. I pulled off the door panels cut holes and installed 6.5 the first set fit great but the woofer locked up on one of them so I put in another set. Different brand so it ended up being alittle bit bigger so I had to trim away some of the door frame metal. Sounds alot better now.
