I have a 2 months old 09 corolla s and as most of us know how bad the factory speakers are, I am planning to initiate the upgrade by changing the front speakers 1st. I have been reading since some time and i determined that high sensitivity component speakers would be a good choice. I am not that particular about every detail of music but i just like listening to good music, so i dont want to use any external amplifier or stereo system.

If anybody has done this before, can you please share the steps to do so along with pictures if possible. Also, if i use decent quality component speakers (2 ohm impedance, 94db sensitivity), will the standard factory stereo be able to power them? Again, i dont want the system to vibrate my car...just want to enjoy good music and decent volume levels.

If i use 6.5 inch speakers, will i need any kind of adapter to fix them in my car or they will simply replace factory speakers with no accessories required?

I read that it is easy to use speaker wire adapters. If this is true, where to find them and are there different adapters required for speakers and the tweeters? Is there a way to go without using these wire adapters?

Finally, if i use component speakers in the front, will i need to use full range speakers for the rear or i will just use woofers? Because if i need to use full range speakers for the rear and if the front crossovers will filter only low frequencies to be sent to the rear then how will the tweeters in the full range speakers work?

Sounds like you running infinity kappas. The built in crossover will allow a 4ohm or 2ohm independence, so those would be fine. The 6 1/2 speaker will replace factory but you must drill out the 3 rivets holding on each front speaker. As for the wire adapter, you can cut the original harness, but i recommend buying the speaker harness from any best buy or car audio shop or also www.metraonline.com If you use a component speakers, the front speakers will consist of a tweeter, a crossover, and a woofer. For the rear you can use a co-axle speaker or full range. The front speakers will have nothing to do with the rear.
