I have an 83 pkup 22r with 250k miles. On a warm day (40f or above) ill drive to a store or something truck runs fine. Im in the store for 20-30 mins get in engine starts and with in a block or two engine stalls. when it stalls i can hear air rather then gas squirting from carb. only thing i can do is wait until engine is completly cool before it will run again (when i can hear gas squirting in the carb). I suspected a vapor lock and had a mechanic look at it and he agreed. So i installed a 6 psi electric fuel pump for when this happend. I have also changed fuel filer, thermostat, plugs wires roter and cap, insulated the gas line from Mechanical fuel pump to carb with foil, ran heet through, sea foam. since installing the electic fuel pump it happend once i fliped the switch on and it ran home. it was parked for 50 mins and i went to leave for work and engine started but died after a min or 2 ideling. is there something more then vapor lock going on here? i have spent endless hours on the side of the road waiting for my engine to cool off. i love my rusty toy to death but every time i get stuck all i wanna do it send it into retirement. i need and advice i can get.
