Thinking about buying a Sequoia, Nubee Options

So far I haven't heard anything bad. I am thinking of getting either a Sequoia or a Sienna. The Sequoia seems to be an all around good SUV. The only thing I haven't heard about yet is the gas mileage.

Gas mileage for sequoia is not the best, comparing to a passenger car. my Lexus LS400 using premium gas has better mileage than my 07 sequoia. Bottom Line, if you buy a sequoia, you shouldn't worry about gas, if you do, don't buy one. Sequoia is a nice comfortable vehicle for a long ride, and also for numerous of passengers. Hmm.. Well that's not what I wanted to hear. We have to drive a LOT.. I have a son who has to see several specialists which are about 240 miles one way.. at least once a month plus his local doctors, my grocery shopping, appointments and what not.. Man I didn't want to hear that the gas mileage was poor. Can we say it is average? What kinda mileage do you get on the highway? Would it be equivalent to that of a minivan? I am down to having to choose either Sequoia, Excursion or Mini-van.. Don't think we can fit 2 adults and 4 kids in anything else... Thanks

on my 07 Sequoia, I get an avg of 13 miles per gallon in city driving, freeway i am not too sure, Just got my sequoia a month ago. My wife drives this vehicle to work three time a week, 30 miles round trip each day. If we drive it all week, then I would have to put gas in once a week, at about $50 to $60. gas is about $3.20 per gallon at Costco (warehouse shopping), if you compare this with an excursion (ford) I think you will be buying gas alittle more than the sequoia. Excursion is longer than the sequoia. and I believe the gas mieage is worst than the Sequoia. I paid $43K out the door for my Sequoia SR5 4x4 leather interior, moon roof, JBL radio w/ cassette and cd player with 6 cd changer. runningboard. also a $2k rebate from toyota. hope this helps. I've had mine (4X4) for about 2 years now and have put somewhere in the neighborhood of 26,000 miles and since new I have been getting 16.2 mpg avg. city and hwy (kind of a record nut, sorry). On my last trip which was about 2,300 miles all highway, my fuel mileage held at 21.6.
My brother-inlaw has an '04 Excursion Diesel mpg about 19-ish all around and something in the area of 22 hwy and 17 city. But I must say it doesn't seem to ride as well as a Sequoia or be as quiet inside by any means, what more do I need to say it's only a Ford not a Toyota. I hope this helps.

I've had an '02 for a few years now. Fuel milage is pretty much what I expected from a tank. Highway milage isn't great, but can average around 19-20 in OD. Pulling the boat, it drops into the gutter, but I drive it with OD disengaged. Other than that, I love it but mroe importantly, my wife loves it. She is the primary driver. What I like about it is knowing that my wife and son are in something big and reliable when they set out for any one of their many activities while I'm on the road.

I took it on vacation last year down to the Alabama Gulf Coast. It was about a 12 hour, 600 mile drive - all interstate speed. I had to stop about half way down and fill up. I guess I got about 400 miles on a tank. That's the only downside. The upside is that when I got there, I wasn't the least bit stiff or uncomfortable. Plus, people pay attention to you because you are generally bigger than they are.

I drive an '08 Sienna LE for work. I put about 40K a year on it. It gets better fuel milage, but I'm generally stiff at the end of a day long drive. I like it, but generally don't take long trips in it. A short hop - two to four hours is tolerable. If it is much more than that, I let the pilot get me there at 30K'. It would be worth looking at if milage is that much of a concern. Milage is about 17 city and 25 highway. I had one tank of fuel that averaged 28 MPG, but that was one of those all day trips that comes once in a blue moon.
