89 Cres, Stutter/no Power Whilst Cold Help! Options

Engine stutters in idle and during accelaration, car shakes a lil in idle due to the stutter. down low (up to 2000 rpm) car feels like it's lost its power... but when i give it the boot yer it seems okay. a friend told me it could be my fuel pump. ill take ti to a mechanic soon but id rather know what exactly it is so if someone has had a similar prob let me know. it's not the spark plugs either.. got new ones put on about 5000 kms ago.

and the engine sounds crap in idle cause of this prob... any help will be appreciated :)

i thought i might add.. i just installed a pod filter on my cressy.. the old airbox is gone and the air filter inside it was quite dirty. i like the sound the new pod makes :) the car runs a lil better and i dunno i do feel like it has gotten a slight power gain. prolly 2 or 3 HP hehe if anyone wants to see some pics let me know.
