2007 Avalon has a problem. There are two interior lights. One just above the drivers head with a rocker switch, and one over the backseat with two pushbuttons for individual use.

The light over the backseat has stopped working when unlocking or opening the doors. It will work when the buttons are pushed.

The dealer is trying to tell me that the backseat lights are not supposed to come on except when using the buttons. I am positive that the light came on in the past when unlocking and opening doors.

Other owners of 2007 models please check your car and tell me if your light over the backseat comes on when unlocking or opening the doors.

Thanks

I have an '07 XLS. I tested it all ways, i.e., with headlights on "auto" and also in manual. In all cases when I opened the rear or front driver's side doors the reading lamp above the rear seat came on. I did not check the passenger side. I also checked the remote lock/unlock and the lamps came on when I unlocked the doors.

Thanks for your help. I knew that the stealership was trying to blow me off.

Now I'm loaded with input.
