Better than the LS 430? Most likely because of more horsies and better technology and features. Also it does not try to look like a Mercedes. Maybe the 2002 LS 430 will change and try to compete with it. But Lexus still pays attention to little details, so I don't know what to buy.

Actually, the LS 430 is more of a Mercedes S-Class challenger, where as the oddly-styled Q45 is more targeted towards the next-generation BMW 7-series. Why should the LS 430 change? It's helped Lexus attain the distinction of being the best-selling luxury marquee.

In terms of the Q45 having technological superiority over the LS 430, well it doesn't. The Q45 lacks many of the amenities and options found on the LS, simply because it's more performance oriented, also it lacks the reputation for quality and innovation the Lexus has meticulously built.

The Q45 is a driver's car while the Lexus is a limo. Actually the Infiniti has made great strides in technology and options, but it also copies many of Lexus' achievements just like Lexus copied Mercedes. Lexus = suspension problems.

Yes, the Q45 gives the driver a more rewarding driving experience, whereas the LS simply coddles the driver with opulency and technological baubles. This would be the reason as to why these two luxury sedans aren't direct competitors. If Lexus copied Mercedes outright, the LS would be nothing more than a flimsy debacle, serving as nothing more than an edifice to a bygone era.
