Better than the LS 430? Most likely because of more horsies and better technology and features. Also it does not try to look like a Mercedes. Maybe the 2002 LS 430 will change and try to compete with it. But Lexus still pays attention to little details, so I don't know what to buy.

The Q45 lacks many of the amenities and options found on the LS, simply because it's more performance oriented, also it lacks the reputation for quality and innovation the Lexus has meticulously built.

The Q45 is a driver's car while the Lexus is a limo. Actually the Infiniti has made great strides in technology and options, but it also copies many of Lexus' achievements just like Lexus copied Mercedes. Lexus = suspension problems.

This would be the reason as to why these two luxury sedans aren't direct competitors.
