Hi, Has anyone installed an after market component in their vehicle by using the overhead compartment? I am in the process of installing a blueconnect system in my 2005 Camry and 2006 Avalon. It is installed in the sunglass holder. You rout out a hole in the sunglass kit and the system fits in there. You tap into the power+, accessory+, and ground-, using the wires in the overhead compartment. You need a voltage meeter to read which wire is which. It seems doable to install the system, however I would like to speak to someone who has tapped into these wires. Is the accessories+ wire in the overhead compartment or do I have to run it to the fuse block and tap into the accessorie there? If you want to check out the video clikc below. I would love to hear from anyone in regards to this!!!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2Q3XHayAUE

Thanks Markal

I finally installed the blueconnect and it works great! It is a simple process. I bypassed their instructions regarding how to wire and wired it as if I was wiring an alarm, same proces. Cutting the hole in the overhead compartment was relatively easy (only warning, stay within the line and file away as necessary.) The wiring was the most difficult part, having to pull the a pillar down and run the wire to the the fuse box and t-tap into the power, auxillary and ground wires. I think anyone with limited skills can do this. Don't pay Al and Ed's price of $250 for instillation. They are rip off artists. Also, buy the system online as it is much cheaper than their prices. I paid $170 on ebay and I have seen prices range from $219 to $289 online and up to $375 from dealers and audio shops. Anyone interested, I think you should check it out.

it wasn't hard to remove the apillar, just a couple of click in plastic screws. I t-taped into the ground wire, power wire, and the accessory wire under the stering wheel. Hope this helps.

HI, I want to purchase the blueconnect on Ebay but I cannot find it for 170.00 on Ebay. Can you provide me with the company name or email address? Your help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely Harvey

I just got Blueconnect and the callers voice is great, however they say I sound as if I am in a tunnel...I am useing a Treo 700p. Is the tunnel sound normal, or does blue connect work better with other phones. Im on the Sprint network.

You say you 'wired it like an alarm" please give detail. Did you only use the wiring in the console? Or did you run them down the pillar? I'm reluctant to fool with the pillar and the air bags. If the pillar is the way to go can anyone post pictures?

Well - nevermind - Apparently the Blueconnect doesn’t fit a 2005 Avalon Limited in the sunglass holder. It’s way to small, so I’ll have my posted on eBay this afternoon 
