Just stopping by to introduce myself. My name's Phil from SE Louisana. I'm a combat veteran, pool guy, and full time college student, and I just got my first truck. It was my grandfather's, then my great uncle's, now it's in my driveway, and it's been in the family for 150,000 miles. I learned to drive a stick on this thing when I was 15, so I'm very excited to own it now.

EV, as it's affectionately known(Exxon Valdez) is a 94 Toyota pickup, 2.4L 22R-E engine, 5spd 2WD regular cab short bed. The name comes from the fact that no sooner did I buy it and get it home, we found the front main seal to be hemoraging all over my driveway, so that has become my first foray into working on my first truck.

I'm excited to get active in this forum, and excited to own my first truck. Any advice or warnings about these trucks I should know about as a new owner would be appreciated.

Hey Phil ! Welcome aboard.

If you are tackling (or have tackled) your front main-seal, you can surely do almost anything to keep EV in good repair indefinitely.

Welcome to the family bro !!

Welcome, Phil!

How exciting to have your first truck. It is even more exciting that this truck is significant to you. What an honor that it has found its way to your driveway!

Bravo on being able to tackle the front main-seal. Sounds like you'll be able to take excellent care of EV!

MAINTENANCE! MAINTENANCE! MAINTENANCE!

If you'll take care of it then it will take care of you. Toyotas are known for their going power.
