Does anyone know if there is an auxiliary port on the 2006 landcruiser so that a stereo shop can directly wire into to the back of the stereo for an MP3 player?

There is at least one product out there that will connect to your ipod and then transmits a radio signal that you tune your radio to receive. It's quick and simple. Check Fry's Electronics.

Hey Sharon, I just purchased and installed a Peripheral iPOD Adapter (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Qw0Euitfxte/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp? g=227450&I=541PXDP&search=ipod) into my 2044 4Runner SE. It was a bit pricy but allows you to control (switch songs) your iPOD using your steering wheel controls. As for sound quality, sounds like you are playing a CD. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to hook up their iPOD to a factory radio. Robert

I myself stayed old school and use a cassete adapter, it sounds really good...word for the wise, which I am not though. Being that it's getting hot, do not leave your MP3 player in the car...it will damage it, I promise!! Jason & Sarah Kucera Success Team International www.kucera.usana.com "True Health, True Wealth"

Sharon, I use the cassette adapter from my XM Roady2. As you may know the Roady2 has an fm modulator built into it. I've compared the sound between using the fm modulator and the cassette adapter, and the cassette sounds WAY BETTER. The adapter will plug right into the iPod; I know this because that's how I use mine. I'm actually very close to killing my XM subscription because I listen to the iPod almost all the time now. Good Luck Thanks, Andy

I bought a casette adapter, it sounded HORRIBLE. I coudl hear this clanking churring sound in the casette adapter teh whole time So that idea is def out. I found an FM modulater that is strong enuf to be picked up by the antennae's at the back of the 4 runner (pritned in the back windows). Its the DLO for $99. Its working pretty good, but then again, you cant control w/ the steering wheel and it plugs into the cig lighter...the ONE cig lighter. So back to square one..one cig lighter..about 4 thigns to plug into it on a road trip (gps, phone, rechargeable headset, and now ipod)...and this ipod DLO either sits in a cig lighter coz its box thing you slide the ipod into, or it has to mount to the dash somehow and it sticks out. its already flung across the car when i came to a stop. Icruz from best buy is an option, but they want $400 for all the parts and isntallation (installtion only $35 which sint bad...) any more ideas? thanks!

I'd say the cassette adapter you got is bad, because while mine makes noise, it is nowhere near that annoying.in fact you can only hear it slightly when there is no music playing and the car is stopped. I like the idea of the the steering wheel controls, but if you search around the Crutchfield website there are other products that so similar things.but one reviewer said that if you use the ipod-specific unit as Robert suggests, you lose the ability to use the ipod's controls while it's plugged in.I guess it all depends on your real preferences. Thanks, Andy

The reason I got the more expensive unit is because the cheaper units do not allow you to control all your playlists. You have to actually set up specific playlists just for those units. The USA Spec unit only allows you to play music from 5 playlists. The only downfall I found with the unit I purchased is the volume control doesn't work on the ipod. So if you have a low song, you have to raise the volume of your radio. All other ipod functionality still works.
