i wanted to get a 85 hatch because it has the two spoilers and says Supra. not celica like mine. but the hatch i have isnt origonal, it isnt tinted like the origonal one was which is a problem cause i am going to put a couple of subs in the back. do you think it would be worth it to try and find a used 85 supra hatch that is tinted?

That's mostly a matter of personal taste. The upper spoiler is known to increase drag and lift, so from a performance perspective, it is junk. Classisgarage.com (I hope that is correct)sells a simple spioler that fits onto the stock hatch and only goes on the bottom. I think it looks cool, but that's just me. I'd reccommend getting the tint done yourself. New tints have UV block that will be better for your subs. It's cheap to have done and will save you a lot of trouble in picking thru old hatches. Remember, if stuff is the way you want it as it is sitting, you can always change it to suit your like. A car is a blank canvas with endless opportunities.

The original black unit at the top of the hatch is a sun shade rather than a spoiler.  Some of the earlier years of MKII's had the louvers sun shade that went entirely across the hatch.

A couple of folks on the MKII list sell the decals if you want a 'new' one.
Check the archives at Yahoo groups

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mk2/

and CelicaSupra.com (link on my web page).  The silhouette of the MKII in the CelicaSupra.com logo on this site shows the sun shade but not the spoiler.  Take a
look at the Gallery there (link on left side of page) and some of the other Supra sites to see various models.  My original sun shade is not raised from the hatch but is in contact with it.  The spoiler on the while Supra on the lower left of the gallery looks original to me.

I think you need to find someone on the net selling one or from a junkyard or recycler.  Tap Recycling near Sacramento has a mailing list where you can let them know what vehicle you are interested in and they will email you when they get one.

On either one of the above sites or at supras.com (there may be a redirect there now) there are archives which talk about how folks have put speakers in the hatch wheel well area.

Hope this helps,
