I thought I was being smart when I bought a "Toyota", but now I'm starting to wonder. I just purchased a used 2006 Toyota RAV4 Limited 4WD with 37k miles on it. I only got to drive it for three days when it left me stranded at the gas station. When I turned the key, it wouldn't start. My husband tried to jump start it and the cables started smoking. We walked to the store and purchased a brand new battery and installed it. That did help the RAV start, but all the "check engine" lights came on and I had no acceleration. I had it towed to my mechanic's shop and will find out tomorrow what he "thinks" the problem is. After reading several different forums on the internet, this seems to be a common problem with RAV's. I'm afraid that I will keep getting stranded and put several hundred (or thousand) dollars into my new-to-me RAV. Has anyone else out there had these problems and worked through them and now they love their RAV4? I'm trying to decide if my RAV4 is a keeper or if I should sell it fast and buy a Honda. I love everything else about my RAV4. Thanks to everyone out there who uses these forums to help others!
