i'm in need of some information.<br><br>i ordered my prius from manchester toyota (manchester, tn) mainly because they were the only ones in a 100 mile radius of nashville that had a floor model in mid march. i wasn't surprised nor irritated that the sales people were not as informed as i was about the prius. unfortunately, as time has gone by that hasn't improved. <br><br>when i ordered my prius, i asked for the cd player option. they quoted me $1000 extra. i've seen people post about $500 for the option. doesn't toyota have a set price? where is it installed - at port or at the dealership? it's been two days and the head salesman has not returned my phone calls and he's too busy when i call. can i cancel the option? i don't want to cancel my order for my car, i've waited two months already,<br><br>i have some other questions, but i'm getting steamed again. i can accept ignorance, but i can't tolerate unmotivated people. these people don't seem interested in addressing any of my concerns - the sale has been made i guess.<br><br>ecobandit

First-I can tell you that I'm as irritated about this as you are- I'm a Toyota Salesperson myself and these guys need a kick in the seat. Now. I'm equally irritated that they would quote you such a ridiculous number for a CD. The MSRP for the CD is $335 (installed at your respective "port"). <br> Upon your vehicles arrival at the port, whoever is coordinating the flow of your regions Prii (is that plural???) is supposed to call the dealership contact and verify the equipment. Make your wishes very clear to the dealership employee. Now- that being said- yes, you are being gouged for the CD. Unfortunately the dealer is in fact entitled to charge whatever he wants for any product or service. That's free enerprise. Now the flip side of that is, of course, you dont have to buy it. and I wouldnt either. Kick him once for me- people like that make my job a lot harder than it needs to be.

Legal paperwork/ agreements vary but generally a promissory note is signed after the deal is done, dmv'ed, and ready to deliver. When on the spot payment can't be made because funds are pending tranfer to checking acct, getting a cashiers check, etc. The idea is to let you enjoy delivery of the car and pay them within the specified period. Normally a p-note is about the car itself and not a component of the car (CD).I dont see why you wouldnt be able to.(drop the CD) I would let you, but then again, it wouldnt have been an issue because I dont charge over MSRP for anything. Read your agreement carefully.

My order of 4/27, included the CD player for $345 and floor mats for $70. Your dealer is apparently ripping you off for $655. I believe my CD player handles only 1 CD at a time, and I seem to recall a post about one that could be loaded with 6, but even that would be a ripoff at $1,000. I've also ordered and received the complete set of the service manuals for the ripoff price of $211.77, including 3 softcover books, total thickness of about 3.5", and approximately 1,600 pages. These are very comprehensive and detailed, good on diagnostics and service, but poor on theory and function which is what I was really after. In hindsight, I probably would have skipped the service manuals. I have also found dealer salespeople difficult to reach, after the order is placed, but when I tried an E-mail, had a response within the hour.

Toyota thenselves quoted me $335 for the CD player - if your dealer says anything else, I guess you are being ripped off.<br><br>There is a Toyota Prius voice mail number in California where you can try leaving a message to talk to someone other than you local yahoo: 925-275-3342 I was able to change my CD player option by calling this number.<br><br>Leigh Brasington<br><a href=http://members.home.net/lnblnb/prius.htm target=new>http://members.home.net/lnblnb/prius.htm</a>
