Oh learned people.

I have a 2002 hiace, i bought it only a few months back for recreation use only. It had a knock which i assumed to be roll bushes. I had these changed and its still there. Nothing big, just an annoying nock nock neckety knock. Its an irregular thing, nothing to do with engine or drive system as not engine speed related. It does it just coasting down a smooth road with the clutch to the floor. Knock Knock. it does seem to do it more when cold but knock knock knockety knock but i cant imagine why as its not engine or drive. Its coming from somewhere up front on the near side knock but its so far knock knock evading my attempth to discover knock the source.

Any ideas?

Thanx

So clutch disengaged, engine on idle and knock knock?
If you press accrelerator or idle up button when clucth still pressed what happens?

Maybe thrust bearing? (if my translation was correct)

Some other experiences:

A kind of irregular knocking sound I had when a bolt plate had been droped inside the door. I tried with vacuumcleaner etc. it out. When the final would have been deattaching the door, I decided to add some rust protection spray to make the plate at stay still.

Thanx for reply, I mentioned clutch to floor just so it was clear that the noise was still there its actually there with clutch in or out.

Its deffo not the clutch or engine/drive system. More like something knocking against the body from underneath the front passenger side.

Just been out in van now, its annoying.

So something to clear out more....
Is the sound there when van is stopped?

Left side and body:
Have you checked the fuel cap and the fuel tank if it's moving or sth?

And now remembered one thing more:
The antenna may touch the body if it is in its full length.
I once did that in mistake.

is it a constant knock or just an occasional one now an then? not affected by engine speed or vehicle
speed...
Everything is secure under the vehicle and inside?
Batterys are secure
Wheels are on tight
Wheel bairings are all ok
How loud is it?

Drive shaft sounds like that at times on a friends 4x4 but only when he pushes the clutch pedal down so there is no drive from the engine going though to the final drive shaft joining onto the wheel, his way of fixing it so far is to turn up the music a bit louder, haha.

So you mean sound from the universal joint. In 4wd the axle to front differential is in left side of the van but I thought phoebelala has 2wd.
Actually with some thinking a loose universal joint can perhaps make irregular sounds in 4wd when the front and rear axle speeds differ on different road conditions. This just without any accelaration/deacceleration that is needed in 2wd to hear the sound.

Thanx for the suggestion, its deffo something under the left side floor. I will just have to get it on ramps and find out by rocking the vehicle. I have just found that this can replicate the noise so looks like I may be onto a result soon.
