Hi,
I have started getting a knocking sound from the rear of my celica
when I pull off in the morning or after the car has been sitting for
over approx. 4 hours. Is this just the handbrake sticking or has one
of the suspension barrings gone 'dry'?
Cheers......

I got the rear bushes done about 18 months
ago, albeit by the cowboys that knock out my 4WS speed sensor and then wouldn't
take responsibility for it.
I assume they are meant to last longer,
6-8 years?

True, they could have just lashed on
cheapo's.
If it woz the bushes should the knocking not
be constant each time I pull off from a standing start and not just in the
morning or after being idle for a few hours?

I will check them when I get home this
evening. What will the discs tell me if they are over-heated?
I just drove it up a steep incline in a
car park twice from a standing start to load the rear axle and I heard nothing
so I'm thinking it might be the sticking handbrake.

Just to stick my oar in.....
IIRC the handbrake is done by shoes inside of a drum on the rear disc
(if that makes sense) If it's only doing it from sitting
overnight I'd think it's the handbrake sticking,

I left it overnight with the handbrake off
and there was no knocking this morning at all.
I'll do the same 2nite just to be
sure but thanks all for your input and help.......
