I noticed Lexus has a factory installed modification package for its Lexus GS series. Unfortunately, it is tought finding a Lexus GS to test drive that has the L-tuned package to compare ride and handling. So to anyone who owns one of these cars with the L-tuned package, please post some details on the changes you noticed in ride, handling, interior noise etc. I test drove a BMW 540 and a Lexus GS430. The BMW certainly handles better, but I like the Lexus for all its other qualities better. So I am wondering if the L-tuned package helps make up the difference between the 2 cars a bit. Thanks

The LTuned package is basically the Ltuned suspension, a LTuned steering ECU, and a bodykit.

You can purchase each of those seperately. The LTuned suspension is basically the Eibach Springs/Bilstein Shocks & Struts combo marketed under LTuned. This GREATLY improves the handling of the GS. Its your choice in buying LTuned or Eibach/Bilstein (this probably will be cheaper). The LTuned steering ECU eliminates the steering wheel freeplay. You can switch lanes with a little tug of the steering wheel.

I notice a big difference when I installed it (ECU costs $130), with the suspension upgrade (Bilstein/Eibach combo $500-$700 depends where you go). The handling is much more tighter, especially in corners & aggressive lane changing, and the steering response is on point. The body kit is ok, if you are into the body kits.

The ride is stiffer, but not harsh. If you are ok with BMWs ride quality, than this is a little better than that in terms of road feel. You still feel comfortable, but the "floating" is reduced at high speeds. The springs lower your car by about 1 to 1.2 inches. Giving it a sportier look.

You may get some interior noises do to you changing the dynamics of the car's suspension, but nothing major.

Hope this helps,

Lee
