What do you all think? I prefer a lift but then that is what I think looks good. A friend of mine says lifts are "bad" and make you get less gas mileage and need tires faster .. who agrees with this? Who thinks that a lift is good to add and who thinks it is bad to add? Why?

First of all, why are you going to lift? Looks? Need? I lifted because I added beefier tires all around and wanted to correct the rubbing going on in front. Lifted rigs wear tires out as fast as non lifted ones, don't know where your friend got his or her mis-information from. Depending on how high your lift will be, it may pre-maturely wear out your CV joints and you also may need to get longer brake lines and maybe a differential drop. There are many ways to lift your truck with pros and cons for each one. I can PM you a link for that if you like. For some reason, this forum hates its members to post links to other Toyota sites. The way I see it, if it helps you and others out, why not use it.

For the average driving around town stuff, lifs are bad.

Now if you are out on the trails and need the clearance, then that is something different.

I have to agree with humonoid on this one. There is no point in waisting money on a lift if you are doing it for looks.
