There is a light sensor located at the extreme left under the windscreen (ST183 right-hand drive model). Anybody knows what it is for? Regards, robert

Hi Alistair, Thanks for your reply. What is the sensor controlling in the air-con system? Anyone have a circuit diagram of the system? Regards, Robert

IIRC it tells the system if it's daytime or night-time so the climate control can figure out how much cold/hot air to pump out to maintain the selected temp.

Thanks Alistair.

Wonder if you or anyone could help me get a copy of the Haynes or Chilton's Repair Manual? Could not get it in the shops in Malaysia. And mail orders are unreliable. One site took my money and never sent anything.

Best Regards,
Robert

Thanks Alistair,

I would like to get a book to understand the car better.

However, there is one problem you might be abe to help.

My car's rev meter shows lower RPM than it actually is. My estimate is it is about half of the actual. For eg at idle it shows only 460 rpm. Tapping the ECU RPM output into a Rev meter also shows the same low RPM. Where is the ECU getting the rev signals from? Is there a sensor in the engine bay?

Anyone have this problem before?

  Best Regards, Robert

I'll check the wiring diagrams to see but usually it's taken from the distributor or the TDC sensor. I've never heard of it happening before though.
