Hi, Guys.

Just become a first time van owner. The beast (as I call it) is an older model LiteAce van (standard roof). pre 80s by the look.

I have only had the thing for az few days, and was a real bargain. Anyway, haven't had much of a look at the engine etc, but am i curious as to what engine I should expect. This one has a 4 speed column shift manual gearbox.

Doing a web search, I get a lot more on HiAce than LiteAce - I am assuming these are similar, and parts can be interchanged?

As it stands, I am replacing head gasket (came with one in pack) also a starter motor (ahs none ATM), as well as the usual tail light lenses etc.

I picked her up for sround $150.00, a mate had it in his drive, and just wanted it gone. Cosmetically, needs a little work, with slight rust here and there (surface rust on roof in small spots). With no hoodlining etc, a lot of the panels are accessible from inside, so will make things easier. I';tll be a budget makeover, inc a quick paint job, as I lug a lot of computer bits etc around (a hobby of mine), and the ol' girl will need to look good.

Leads, plugs etc (as per norm) will be replaced, even hoses etc - it hasn't been used since May this year.

I am a first time toyota owner, and i am sure there will be more to grace my garage in the years to come.

If anyone can answer my questions, I will be very greatfull.

Cheerio,

Dave

The liteace is a much smaller cousin to the Hiace. More of a Minivan than the Hiace. I don't think all that many parts will be interchangeable. Different engines, different everything. . .

Sounds like you got a good deal though. Good luck!
