Question: Is anyone else having problems keeping the driver and passenger door seals in their channels? Our Prius, delivered on May 10th of this year, keeps having the gaskets pull out of the channels above the door latches. I havn't read any other complaints about this, and wasn't planning on taking the car to the dealer for service just for this, at least until the first oil-change is due. If this wasn't a new car, I'd just use a bit of contact cement.
Any other minor quality issues to look for? I'm curious how the upholstery holds up in the long run?
Harald

I'd recommend that you have your dealer repair the door weatherstripping under warranty (i.e.: for free) to your complete satisfaction. Note that you've already paid for your car's standard warranty as part of the purchase price. I'm sure your Prius dealer will fix your car, using genuine Toyota parts, one way or the other.

For what it's worth: My first Prius had the same problem with the "loose" weatherstrip on the front driver's side door. My dealer installed a new, replacement weatherstrip, but it too came loose again after a few weeks. Unfortunately, before the dealer had a chance to investigate further, my Prius got totaled, so the weatherstrip issue became a moot point.

Other than the above, I haven't experienced any similar "trim" problems in my first Prius, nor in either of the two Prius cars I've rented while waiting for my new '02 Prius (which should be here in a few days.)

- Peter
(Waiting, waiting, waiting ...)

took delivery Sept '00 and had dealer fix driver door seal problem under warranty about a month later; they found "lack of sealer" and "reinstalled using ribbon sealer." A.

I too have loose weatherstripping. I'm letting it go and hoping that the 2002's weatherstripping is OK.

I've a 2002 on order, but don't expect to see it at least until sometime in Nov. I'd be very interested in what diferences you find between the '01 and '02. Any obversations would be interesting.

I too have the loose weather stripping. I took it in and they just slipped it back into the track. Duh, I could do that, and of course a few days later it was loose again.
Arnolddeleon mentioned the service manual says something about using an adhesive. Could someone with the service manual give us the page number and section in the manual, and maybe a snippet of what it says, so I can point that out to the service department next time, so they know that it does need some sort of adhesive.
Thanks for the help.
Dale...
