1985 22rec SR5
I just rebuilt my engine top to bottom, had many problems along the way, last problem was a blown head gasket that i just fixed, i have been driving it for about 3 weeks now, roughly 500 miles, it has been losing coolant progressivly more and more each day, now i have to fill it before every start, i do not see a leak or water dripping anywhere when it is runnin or sitting, wondering if i have a leak directly into my engine. Possible quick cheap fixes to check if that works? Possible expensive fixes? Thanks a lot

I had the same exact problem with my truck, it was losing coolant but wasnt goin anywhere. I did a compression check on all the cylinders and they all came back good, but I was losing a lot of coolant because it was goin into the piston and burning in the exhaust. None of it ever went into the oil but it was still a head gasket problem. Check to see if the inside of your exhaust pipe is kinda greyish or white because thats a tell tale sign of it. Check all the other precautionary stuff first, but it sounds like a head gasket to me.

Yeah, I had a 22R that had the same problem, didn't leak just burned coolant.
If your exhaust is white and has a sweet smell, that's a definite clue.

I also had a 22re losing coolant through the overflow bottle. head gasket was leaking air into collant system and pushing it out the overflow. I HAD REPLACED THE HEAD GASKET LAST YEAR. I HAD TO REPLACE THE HEAD THIS TIME WITH THE GASKET.

also if you have an automatic transmission, coolant could be leaking into the transmission cooler lines that run into the radiator. check what the fluid looks like when you pull the dipstick. if you have a manual transmission, then forget what i said, its probably leaking and burning in the cylinders.
