hi mate.

preferably, when lowering a car, you do it in a way you do not disimprove handling, or else have the tyre rub with the wheel arch on a bend. The best way to go is buying coilovers.

I have a set of Cusco Zero-1 coilovers on my Starlet. They are one of the best Japanese manufacturers of suspensions. The ride has been lowered considerably (around 45mm, im on 15 inch wheels) and thats only half the way doen the coilovers. I can lower more. The rigidity of the car allows me to take any bend I want with speed, and at the same time feeling secure.
On the front suspension, the Cusco Zero-1 have Adjustable Camber Plates, so i adjusted them for by -2mm on each side..it improved a lot of handling and steering response! Literally amazing!!

If you want mate, I can get you a set of them as NEW much cheaper from how much they are purchased in Japan. I will post a picture in the next few days of the Cusco coilovers I got before I fitted them in the car. If interested, send me a message or contact me via e-mail ktgdfghm@hotmail.com

Thank you very much.
Hope I've been of help to you :)

Diane

Great that you know that Diane.

My question is why? The way it sits up is one of it's best selling points, at least for me. What is the purpose of lowering it?

Its U luck day ,my friend,Igot my yaris lowered for 3 in",cos I roll with a massive 18 " on it..cos it sure will rub my rear guard ,I end up cuting it all away, not to mention the fr,U cannot dod anything with it,cos the fr guard r already roll in,so all it rud is just the fr bumper plastics clips,or the inner plastic guard, but it sure handle much better in corner, cos those 18 " on 215/35 is so low profile,it like almost FLAT ,the ride is stiff, but I can turn into a 90" corner at 30 mile without breaking, drive like a F-1 racing car.if U need handling ,I tthink U need both, wheels is a very important part as well 4 handle..also I put in a TRD tower bar on the fr end as well, huge improvment.U don't bneed to try 18",but at least U need to put in a set of 17 with 205/40/17 tyres.& do the lowering next..U will see..
