hi,

I;m new here, and i have owned camrys and corollas before. i just want something bigger, and i checked out the CRV and the Rav 4 but the gas mileage isnt where i wanted to be. So, i looked at the matrix and it seemed like a nice fit. I can haul stuff, have room for 5 adults, and its a corolla engine. I dont care about how weak it is, im not a big fan of power, more towards economy.

so is the matrix engine and tranny as solid as other toyotas? such as if the auto tranny and enigne can handle 200k without problems. also what kind of mileage would i get if i had the xr, auto, on 60% city 40 freeway?

i have looked at the classifeds and its about 8-9k with about 100k on the clock, i can get it for 7 if i try. thanks

You may have purchased a car by now. However, I just wanted to share that I just bought a 2008 XR auto transmission, and I absolutely love it. By the way, I drove a 2003 Honda CRV (EX - 5 Spd) for just about 5 years and logged 104, 790 trouble-free miles before I gave it to my wife (what a fantastic vehicle!!!).

I've only had it for a week and am getting between 30 and 33 mpg to and from work (6 miles one-way) and around a small town. It is a great vehicle so far, and I do hope I can put 150,000-200,000 trouble-free miles on it (I should be able to as I am very serious when it comes to maintenance). I hope this helps.
