Ok,on the transmission of a '92 4runner,how is the transmission 'modulted'? On older vehicles,it was a vacuum modulator plumbed to the carburetor, and on newer vehicles,it is electronic. What does a '92 4runner have, and can this make the vehicle not move when the transmission is in any forward or reverse gear? Thanks. Brain

hey brain, i see you are still having problems with your tranny. i still have that auto tranny that i was going to put in my runner. the only reason i didn't is because it takes more skill and finnesse to rock crawl with a stick. there is nothing wrong with the tranny . if interested call me 520 440 6354 i'll give you a screaming deal druid_brainchild

not sure what the '92 has, but I have an 89 that wouldnt shift out of first gear. turned out there was a sensor that got bumped off the tranny when I was 4-wheelin in some deep snow. plugged it back in and it worked like new. maybe you have a similar sensor???

the (very honest) transmission shop found the issue. I believe they said it was right on the tranny. presumably toward the bottom based on how it was knocked off.
