Has it gotten colder? My MPG goes down the colder it gets.

Winter gasoline has less gas & more additives like ethanol/eet to reduce CO output. That means less energy per gallon = less MPGs

I believe this was already stated some other time, but I notice it was not here, so here goes: Mine dropped from 47 to 42, both in local travel with a new 2004 model, and with about 1000 miles on it. I believe that the sudden drop was most likely caused by a fuel formulation change, to "winter" fuel. As per an earlier message, winter fuel provides LESS energy/power per gallon due to its formulation allowing ones auto to burn cleaner and to start easier. Pretty stressful situation, but just think of how great it will be when summer does come!!! Bob in Silver Spring, MD

so we get winter fuel here in Florida? I have heard this before also but I thought being in a warm climate that we would not get the winter fuel here. If we do, then I think you are correct because mine dropped the same way lrrp114

Troy...what you say makes sense to me and I will see what happens when the summer rolls around. I now have it up to 41mpg in city driving. i only drive 20 miles a day and it is all 35-45mph stop and go driving. That could be part of the problem also. You think? When we took a long trip when we got the 04, we averaged 47mpg. Of course, I thought it would be reversed and I would get better numbers in the city. Troy Heagy
