I'm new, so I'll say hello to you all first.

I recently got a 1997 Corolla CE for about 4 grand. It's in fantastic shape (it looks brand new), and it has no problems with the engine as I've been driving it for about a month now and I've had it checked out by a mechanic. It's a glossy deep Forrest green color. Like I said, it looks like it was just made. There's not even a scratch. Needless to say, I've been enjoying the hell out of it.

I've spent the last month gauging it's fuel economy, as the Official rating averages at about 28 mpg. I'll also let you all know that I mostly drive in the city, which includes quite a few stops at lights and stop signs, as well as quick merges into oncoming traffic. I occasionally get on the highway for 10 mile stretches or so in my daily commute (to wherever I may be going).

I'm a very conservative driver. I'm very light on the acceleration (this little 4 cylinder engine doesn't have much acceleration anyway...), I rarely go more than 5 mph over the limit, and I try to coast as much as I can on inclines in the road.

So, my question is, is that about the correct mileage I should be getting? I've been worried because it seems a tad low to me. Granted, it's not taking much out of my wallet because I've only filled it up 3 times since I bought it. But there's nothing indicating any problems with the engine, the tires or anything else.

Other than this I'm loving the car. The air works brilliantly, the sound system is adequate, the seats are comfy, and the car's handling is fantastic (I love the turning radius on this thing!)
