Hi to all, I am new to this forum and I need some advice from all of you Tacoma owners out there. I am planning on buying a Toyota Tacoma either in the later part of 2006 or early 2007. My Tacoma will be replacing my 99 Jeep Wrangler which my step daughter will inherit when she gets her license. Anyway, i want the tacoma for a daily driver and the four wheel drive. My wife and I go to the beach a lot, and we need the 4x4 to keep from getting stuck in the sand. (That's why we originally purchased the Jeep, used that is. lol) My question to you is this. Should I purchase a truck with the TRD-Off Road Package for the locking read differential or will the TRD-sport package with the limited slip differential be enough for what I want. We don't do any serious mudding or anything like that, mainly just riding the beach. I don't think I will need the skid plates and stuff that comes with the off road pack. Also, i've heard that with the locking rear differential, the top speed is about 5 miles an hour. Is this true? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul

Well I would personally go with the TRD-Off road package.
I currently own the a 2004 Tacoma with the TRD Off road package and love the ride in the dirt.
As for the Differential lock pretty sure u have to stay in first gear, as I have hardly used it,
but is has gotten me unstuck without any effort. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap.gif)

TRD Sport Has:
Sport Tuned Bilstein Shocks

TRD Offroad has:
Off Road Tuned Bilstein Shocks ( heavier Dampening Rate)
Progressive Rate front Coil Springs
Off Road Cambered Rearspings to compensate for wheel travel in offroad situations
Larger stabilizer Bar

So the bottom line is the TRD Sport Has a smoother onroad ride while the TRD Off Road is rougher on road, but more equiped for rough terrain.
