I ordered a super white prius in early february.
I was driving around portland and drove by a TRAC. I heard (from this club) about TRAC priuses, (they had TWO!) So - I have dibs on a green prius with 2,000 miles on it, (decided I would pass on the aqua ice - I think it is an ugly colour) the dealer wants $21,900 for it... I assume it has a cd player to cost that much... Then to make my descision making more difficult, i came home to find a prius owners manual and a letter from toyota in the mailbox. What should I do? I dont want to wait, green was my 2nd choice... AARRGGHHH why does this have to be so difficult?!?! Could use some advice, especially from those of you who have bought TRAC prii. Waiting to get approved for the loan, but I will put that towards the white prius if I pass on the green one. Any help appreciated, and if you ask nicely, I will tell you where the aqua prius is available. =)

Hi,
In my accountants opinion. (Not an expert myself)
If you buy a TRAC you will not be eligable for most of the varius tax credits or deductions. This is what sawyed me into getting a new one. Check it out befor you make up your mind.

Cheers,

Scott

Well, if (as you said) you don't want to wait, go ahead and buy the TRAC car (how long do you have to wait for it?). But make sure you can get your deposit back from the dealer handling your order (or figure the extra amount into the cost of the TRAC). It does sound like the TRAC dealer is asking a small premium for the priviledge of not waiting. Think of it as the cost of instant gratification. Not the best use of money, but if it doesn't bother you, "what the hey". (And no you won't make it up in gas savings over 2 months. :-)

Robert Snyder
Don't need the aqua 'cause I'm already drivin' NJ-PIKACHU.

Which includes a $1500 credit in Oregon.

Also the price is way too high, even with a 6 cd changer. You should be paying less than MSP, especially since you can be sure that the first 2000 miles weren't driven the way the manual advises, not over 62 mph, no hard breaking and no hard acceleration. Believe me, I rented a TRAC for 2 days and I tried the car out.

I would say wait for a new one.

I ordered in Portland on January 15, 2001, and my dealer had the car on April 6, 2001. My guess is that yours will be in shortly.

HI-
Well I am picking up my TRAC Prius tomorrow. It has only a couple of hundred miles on it and the dealer took money off - not added on for the privilege of getting it early. So I would pass on that deal if I were you.
Kari

Based on your order in early February, you new, no questions about the warranty, Super White will be in shortly. Given the premium price that is being asked and the fact that as a demo car it has probably been driven hard, I would recommend you wait. I got my Super White about two weeks after receiving the letter and calculator from Toyota.

I know the order went through...I have the dog-eared copy of the manual and the lovely calculator in hand. Granted, I am in Wisconsin, so the wait might be a little bit longer (especially depending on which port it comes in at), but now that I'm seeing people who ordered in mid-January (read: after me) getting their vehicles I'm more excited and anxious than ever. Of course, with this spring's flooding, a little wait might be a good thing.

--Jeremy
(Prius: mine's so stealthy you can't even see it!)

I ordered on 29.Dec and my car arrived at the dealer 11.Apr. It is in the "detail" shop today and having the 6 disc CD changer installed. I will pick it up next week. Wait. You're almost there. I'm in Portland, OR as well.
