I lost my owners manual and could somebody tell me what this indicator light means on a 96 corolla?

If the check engine light is on there is something wrong with the engine. It might be as simple as a bad sensor or something small right now that might get worse. Best thing to do is take it to a shop like autozone where there are no mechanics trying to get money for fixing it and have them check the code for the light and tell you what the problem is, there is no charge for this it is free, but anyway warning lights don't just come on because its common.
