Hello!
I am the original owner of a 1993 Toyota pickup with 130,000 miles on it. Two weekends ago I was driving to see my sister-in-law who was in labor with my first nephew. About the time of her first contraction, the timing chain broke on my truck! $1800 and a new timing kit, gasket set, cover and sensor later the truck is running a bit differently. Apparently when the timing chain broke it bent the valves and the mechanics had to do quite a bit of work on the engine. But now I am noticing a new issue and I am hoping the members of this excellent forum can help me diagnose the problem!
When the truck has been sitting for a while (such as at work or overnight) it starts fine and runs fine. But if it has been driven and is started again after only a short time, it has trouble starting unless gas is applied. It then idles so low it almost seems like the engine will die but it doesn't.
I'm looking for some advice as to what the cause of this issue might be! Thanks!
