Hi...I have two questions.

1, Battery size for 2001 Avalon XLS. Searched Owners Manual and Google with no luck on finding the actual size type.

2, Anyone have a recommendation on the best or at least better battery when you have to leave this car for two to three months in the garage?

Now using a Toyota 84 Month battery installed 2002 and it has run down at least six times sitting for over four weeks which of course it bad news for any battery.

When power if available I will start using a battery maintainer when it is going to sit for over a week.

When I have to leave it where there is no power available for a battery maintainer/charger I plan to disconnect the negative terminal so all the electronics do not drain it.

Any suggestions or comments are welocmed and appreciated.

Hello Lee,

As for the battery size of your battery it is as Jack said, a Group 35.

Though as for what kind of battery to recommend or not recommend, unfortunately you'll come up with the same problem with any battery. The battery Maintainer is a good idea, but if while sitting with nothing attached; any battery you buy will come out with the same results. Disconnecting the leads or buying a Battery Disconnect will make it stay "alive" a little longer, but without the maintainer it will eventually have the same results.

Though I would recommend the battery disconnect if that's the route that seems to be forced upon you, that way you don't have run the risk of damaging your terminal or having a faulty connection, and makes it a little quicker as well. The average price of battery disconnects go from about $15 (U.S. currency).
