I've got a '91 pickup with a 3.0L V6 4X4 with an extended cab that needs a new fuel tank and sending unit. I've been looking around and haven't been able to find a new or used one. The new one's that I've seen look just like the one I've taken out, but the vendors say it won't work because the VIN# numbers don't match. does this really matter? if the bolts match up and it's got the same capacity, the holes are in the same place... you'd figure it would work out. I dunno.. I've been looking for a while now and gettin' a little weird about it.

any thoughts or tanks out there?
