I have a Toyota Yaris 1.3L 5Drs.

I noticed there is no indication light for this car and I find it quite difficult to operate coz Im not sure what gear the car is on at the start...

I saw there is this particular area on dashboard where it has some sorts of gear indication LEDs, but they just dont work....is it because my model is not high enough to equip such function?

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Have you checked the fuse for the lights? It could be the one you have is bad. Try replacing it, and see if that does the trick before you begin fretting too much.

I have realised that too. On the gear shift there is no light and I know it isn't a fuse that fixes it.

I think it is the model you have and I have too. In that led bit I can also see indicators for miles/km's as if there is a trip computer too and also a indicator that shows temp, but sadly with my one the only thing that lights up is the clock. But I think in the Australian release they didn't have them but I am not sure.

I was able to get a thermostat to plug in to my brothers mazda 3 I had that enabled the temp display but I don't know if there ius anything available for the yaris like that

If it's not the fuse, then I'd check the owner's manual. You may be right, and it may not come equiped. Your next shot is to email or write toyota and see if there is some way to retro fit the part so that it will light up.

My Canadian RS Hatchback does not have the gear indication light either. However, I can look at the speedometer and the tachometer to figure out what gear I am in from time to time. Not very convenient but I have become used to it. The car is good value overall.
