Went up and down the beach at Pismo a few weekends ago. Had a great time. The VSC was a bit touchy though so I turned it off for a while and powered through some of the softer sand.

Cool, I have modified mine for serious off-road use. It spends about 75% of the time off road and the truck goes through ANYTHING just like all the other serious import 4X4's I have had. What kind of off-road mods has some of the group made??

Well, here's a list of my off-road mods:

- small folding shovel
- tow strap
- first aid kit

That is all the wife will allow! She's the one who drives it with the baby every day. Thankfully we take it to Pismo about once a month and lets me drive it down the beach. Funny thing though, we had to sit and watch 5 other trucks go though a small creek (about 1 foot deep) before she let me go through! If only our 4runner were 4x4....oh the mods I could make....

The 4Runner is a nice truck for off-roading and if you only have ONE kid maybe better size for ya. But, just tell the misses that there is no reason to put the extra gas, maintinace, endure the ride, and the handling of a truck unless you can use it like one. SUV owners that don't use there trucks for off-roading at least once in awhile should buy a car or a van!

Unfortunately our 4runner is 2 wheel drive and I've already gotten it stuck on the beach once, not fun! It is amazing how small the 4Runner became once you have a baby...since we're working on number 2 the Sequoia was a must. When we got our 4Runner back in '90, we lived in Los Angeles we didn't have a need for 4x4, but now we live in central California and go to the mountians and beach all the time so we got the Sequoia 4x4. I wish the 4Runner were 4x4 too now!

Recently I saw a Sequoia Limited w/ 18 inch rims on it and it had been lowered a bit...what a waste!

Ya, the 4X2's is good for towing and such. But it is good to see you are using your SUV's like they are suppose to be used now. The Sequia will be good when you have three or four kids. Lets just hope the the Sequoia was 4X2!! If not I would have gone-up to the owner, showed him my Sequoia ,then B&*^% slaped him!!
