this is a problem with alot of tercels it is in the cylinder head. Just keep adding oil unless you want to replace the head, or repair it. This is a high labor job so probably not worth it for an old car. My daughter's 94 tercel was really bad, then a radiator hose went and she drove it with no water and warped the head so we replaced it an voila no more oil problem. Now we are dealing with a bad heater core which is even more labor, but we love our tercels. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grin.gif)

If you're not going to fall through the floor due to rust, in my experience it is ALWAYS cheaper to repair than to buy. Especially if you can troubleshoot and disassemble.

When you say it's burning oil...do you have blue smoke out the exhaust ?

Because if you have a puddle underneath, that's way cheaper to fix.
