In hot weather you can let hot air escape, if it's not practical to open your car door and let it sit with the door open first (parallel parked in a street, for example).

There were "tall tales" on the Prius List of the feature being implemented in Japan to allow people to get in and out of their cars in extremely tight parking spaces. If you've seen the pictures of parking in Japan, you might believe this a little. :-)

peace,
Linda

You're setting up on the beach and suddenly realize you left the blanket on the front seat after pulling it from the back, but were distracted by your dog barking at another dog and forgot to get it before you closed and locked the door.

Or....

You're getting out of your car at the beach and some hot babe or dude walks by and you forget to grab your keys which are on your seat and your significant other "allows" you to use their key to roll down the window to retrieve yours.

Or...

It's really fun to show that feature off to your car salesperson who has no idea that feature exists.

Is the feature of opening the window from outside of the car new to 2002 or is it available on 2001's also?

To open driver side window, insert key in driver door lock and turn fully to unlock position (CW) and hold. Window starts down in about 1 sec. To close driver side window, turn key to lock position (CCW) and hold.

Robert Snyder
NJ-PIKACHU

Robert,
Thanks for the info. I drove 2 1/2 hours tonight to Chicago and bought a 2001 Aqua (not blue, not green...) They had five 2001's come out of their loaner department. It had only 1300 miles on it. I got 39.6 MPG on the trip home. I asked the dealer about the window feature and he didn't have a clue. From the material I read on this club over the past few days while deciding if I was to buy one, gave me much more of an education about the Prius than any of the dealers I've spoken with have. BTW, it there any way to reduce the hopping motion created by uneven interstate roads. It was very bad around Chicago. It was almost a rocking horse feeling. Perhaps adjusting the tire pressure might help? I can certainly see that a cruise control on the 2002 is a helpful feature. Do you think that we could retrofit the daytime head light dimmer also? The salesman gave me a sticker that came with the car. It says, "Eat My Volts." Did everyone get one of those? Thanks again.
Jack

Hi Jack:

If that sticker is original Toyota material, it should say "Eat My Voltage".

-Michael
"CA Prius"
