Hello all. I'm new to the site I hope that someone can direct me to the right direction. there is a s/c previa at an auction place for $500 (negotiable)but the problem is a piston went through the block. It's in great shape bodywise inside and out.

How hard is it to replace an engine on this vans? anyone had experience this job b4? Is there a previous topic link I can view here? I did search engine but no luck with regards to overhauling or brining the engine down. I can replace an engine as long as its top side but not from a van like the previa. How hard is it? thanks

No way would I get that vehicle. When a piston has enough force, or the driver is "dogging" it that much to cause an aluminum piston to blow through the block...the inside and outside may look good, but someone didn't care about the Engine or for that matter, the transmission. Since you're in Arizona, I wouldn't attempt to try and drop an Engine out from the bottom. When my sister owned hers, I had to remove the passenger seat just to tune it up. Do you really want that much stress in raising the vehicle up, yet supporting the transmission and then trying to find a device to drop the engine on to and slide it out?

I'd stay away from it, but that's just me.
