I'm the original owner on a '97 Tacoma 4x4 6 cyl...lately the light has been coming on, staying on for less than a minute, than going off (of course the parking brake is off) . It does it quite often...any ideas?

Make sure the parking brake is going in all the way. I recently bought a '99 Tacoma that had problems with the parking brake not fully disengaging far enough the make the light go out even though the brake was off. If I held the brake in the light would stay off. Turns out the cable was out of adjustment (loose). There is an adjuster nut under the drivers side of the truck.

I have seen this happen because of a bad sensor in the brakes fluid reservoir, disconnect the electrical connector and put a jumper wire between the two wires on the wire harness side, if the light now goes off the sensor needs to be replaced.
