So, as many of you will know I am in the process of converting my Hiace Super Custom Delux limited from RHD headlights to LHD headlights. As the good boys at Toyota decided to not make the car in a LHD version I am having, rather sadly to go over to the square headlights which take away a lot of the van's good lines I think, still what is is and we can change it.

My problem now is that when i take out the headlights there is nothing onto which I can mount the new lamps as the old ones had their own frame work. Does anyone out there have access to Toyotas EPC? If so, could they be so kind as to look up the part number of the cradle in which the standard lamp units sit? This will help me source one here in Sweden or the EU.

Once I have the above named part it will be all plane sailing I think, I offered everything up to the van yesterday and it all fit including the surounds and grill. I will put up a photo guide to help others in the same situation once it is all done.

Hi Saloman, I have the EPC. I will try and post up # for you later tonight - it will take some digging around and I am not super proficient at using the EPC....

Had a quick look - I'm going to need more information from you. A VIN or Chassis # from your source van (or similar) would be good to clarify a few things. Is the front trim piece you obtained for the LHD lights 1 piece? or 3 piece? There is a choice it seems between 1 headlight per side, or two smaller ones (on top of one another). Do you know if the sealed beams you want to use would be a "2B1" - similar to a Landcruiser Prado? I am guessing they are....

ANyways, try 53130 - 95J06 RH side, 53140 - 95J06 LH or just the numbers 53130, and 53140 as there are multiple subs underneath those part numbers - do not order these as "for sure" until you can see a picture of them - I am trying to get us in the ballpark for now. These appear to be each side of a 3 piece assembly (grille in the middle). On the above second numbers there seems to be quite a number of variants after the "J".

THEN...there is the possibilty that the entire mounting "panels" are different with respect to where the headlight assbly would bolt into? I cant tell on the EPC - there is so many variants and I am not too familiar with all the Hiace model numbers....I'll have to revisit it and see how to copy/paste the diagrams from EPC to here...

John

Another idea is to shop the wrecking yards for a LHD lens/light that would be somewhat compatible in shape and size. This has been done in large numbers here with Nissan Skylines for instance. For Canadian law they have to be securely bolted in and not look "temporary". Anyone have ideas on this? I dont have a van here (yet) to take measurements...

There are a bunch of these vans being sold in Canada - Someone has figured this out I think and keeping it pretty quiet. If anyone would be willing to share this info, I would gladly buy the beer...

Thanks for the info, but I think I will take your advice and head to the scrappers
for the parts as Toyota take such silly prices. I will do a photo documentation of the
transplant as it seems there are a few others that will are looking for the info.
I think I will send over the old front to the UK for resale as they are a RHD country
and the front off a custom special looks a **** sight better than the standard I will
be sticking on my babe. I now have everything for the transplant except the craddles
so only a matter of days now. The parts that the Canadian company offers are stock standard
Toyota secondary market goods, ie. not original but the same form and colours etc.
The parts I bought cost me around 20% of original!!!!!! And yes, they look exactly the same and
fit the same, even has holes for the Toyota logo to be put on.
