I have that exact same problem. I have two JL
Audio 12w3 subwoofers and their too big for the truck
in a regular box. They fit in the extended cab, but
they're too big for the ledge. I had to prop up the box
with a piece of wood so the box wouldn't tip over when
I stopped. This works, but not very well. I'm also
running three amps, so two are on the floor behind each
seat and one is on the box. I plan on having a custom
box done, but I'm going to run three 10w3 subs
instead of the 12's. The box will fit the ledge and be
bolted to the truck so it won't move. Then, a shelf will
be built above it to mount all my amps and my
crossover. Oh, by the way, this is my total system right
now: Eclipse 6-disc in dash changer, Memphis Audio
3-way crossover, Sony Mobile ES 100x2 at 1 ohm for the
subs, Sony Mobile ES 60x2 for rear door speakers, Sony
Mobile ES 50x4 bridged at 100x2 for the front door
speakers, MB Quart 6 1/2" component speakers in the front
and back, Stinger Bullet series rca cables, two
Stinger one farad capacitors, and a Viper Alarm. Right
now, the subs pretty much take up all the room in the
ext. cab. When I have all the custom stuff done, I'll
be able to free up a little room on both sides of
the box on the ledge and the floor. The only real way
to save any space is to have something custom done.
I've seen pics of an install where a guy built
everything within a bench seat. He lifted the bench up and
everyting was inside. Also, he had equipment built into the
rear pad on the wall of the cab. That lifted up, and
there was stuff in there. When he closed both, you
couldn't tell anything was there and all the space was
still there. I hope some of this info helps. <br>Rich
