I have an 07 corrolla and recently its been making a popping noise when hitting dips/bumps and when turning the wheel. it appears to be comming from the front end. of course at times it appears to be comming from the rear. I'm pretty sure its from the front though. What is this? Any Ideas. i had a nissan sentra and it would do the same sort of thing and If my memory is correct it was either somthing with the boots or the cv joints. I live down a gravel road. This car has 13,000 miles and is due the 15000 mile check up soon, its still under warrenty. i took it to the dealership and the guy said its normal breaking in and I really doubt that. I just don't think he wanted to put it on the lift as it was the end of the day. If anyone has any ideas. A brand new car shouldn't be doing that and it shouldn't be normal. I'm also trying to find some detailed diagrams of the front and rear supension if anyone knows where I can find some on the net please let me know. Any info would be greatly appreaciated.

Thank you
paul

I have an 07 coralla and it does the same thing. My boyfriend is a mechanic and i've had him drive it and listen for those noises and he says it just the car, but i think there is something wrong with it. I've also taken it back to the dealership and they told me that they "road tested" it and don't understand what i'm talking about. Sorry i couldn't help much but atleast i know i'm not crazy when i hear those noises too.

I was also wondering if you have any issues starting your corolla. Mine cracks over like 3 or 4 times then starts. There was a TSB on it to replace the comp. but it still does it. Now if the dealership really replaced it or not it still in the air.
Thanks,
~Kim

Thanks for reply. still haven't figured it out yet but I can't believe its normal. Or should be normal. The 1500 service is comming up and I'll be at the dealership all day if I have to and will let you know what they say. The car i had before this was a 10 year old nissan sentra and it would do the same thing and I'd take it to a mechanic thats been doing nothing but forign cars and everytime it was a cracked boot. After he fixed that no problem for a good long time and onetime it was a cv joint. We live on a gravel road and i think thats what causes it. Rocks getting up where they shuldn't be and hitting it hard enough to throw it off plus the roads in my part of VA are crap, cracks, dips, shoddy pothole patches you name it the roads in this state suck.

No problem starting it though. Cranks right up no problem very smooth and actually quiet.

Question.. do you mostly hear the noises after your car has been sitting for over a 5 hr period. Mine seems to make the noises first thing in the morning when I'm going to work, but when i go out around lunch time its fine then it will make the noises agan when i'm driving home. Also, i think we (my boyfriend and his buddies) have narrowed it down to the rear sway bar or the springs making all the noise.
