Windows on pass. side won't go down or up. Voltage (12V) is present at both switches, replaced switch on pass. front window and no change. I applied 12v directly to the motors and windows work. For sometime before this happened, pass. front window would not go up from drivers side switch and the pass. rear window quit for awhile then started working again. So is there a relay somewhere? Does the drivers side switch panel have some circuitry that would cause this? I looked at the back of it and I see corrosion. Any help would be nice. Thanks

Is there someone on the message boards that can get parts cheap?? I've noticed Toyota parts aren't cheap.

If I read your profile correctly, you're talking about an '89 ?
Well....it's about time the window motors started getting tired.

You will need to replace the motors. Definitely go with aftermarket ones. Very easy to replace....just make sure you've unscrewed everything before you start popping the door covers off. Usually there are hidden screws behind visible plugs around the handle area...not sure. A Haynes manual at WalMart for $15 should show you.

Yes its an 89. Motors are going bad even if I apply 12v directly to the motor?? Windows worked when i did this.

I've had a power window go bad and have done the aftermarket route....don't do it! Take it to a dealer and have the real people deal with it. It was a nightmare in the aftermarket. At least for me!

Yeah....this window dilemma is really turning into a PITA!!!! Went to Schmucks(schucks) and bought me a Chiltons. Alot of help that was. All it shows me is what the window motor looks like. Doesn't say squat. Anyone have ideas....other than take it to dealer who's going to charge me a small fortune.

THere's very little risk in you attempting to replace your window motors.

Have the new motor handy, and start.

So far I have replaced the motor and the switch, still don't work. After I got the old motor out I applied 12v directly to it and it worked. Have also discovered that the window will go up but not down. The parts I've replaced so far are out of wrecked cars.....possible I got bad stuff....but Im hoping not. Does anyone know how the switches on the drivers side affect the other windows? I was looking at that too and I see some corrosion on the circuit board. I have a theory that might hold the key to my problem. Is this possible???
